Ohio Sexual Abuse In Group Homes Attorney

Last updated on April 6, 2026

Group homes, whether they are for juveniles or adults, can often be dangerous places for residents. One of the most common offenses is sexual abuse of residents by staff, doctors, other residents, visitors or family members.

I am attorney Konrad Kircher. At Kircher Law, LLC, in Cincinnati, I represent adult sexual assault survivors and child sexual abuse survivors throughout Ohio, including those who were assaulted in group homes and other residential care facilities. I have been dedicated to pursuing these types of cases since 2002. You can trust in my compassion, strength and care. Call me at 888-725-0811 for a free consultation.

Types Of Abuse Common To Group Homes

Group home residents are a vulnerable population, often made up of adults with disabilities and children who have serious behavioral issues. There are also residential facilities for adults or children with psychiatric disorders.

Residents are often physically or mentally challenged and unable to speak up for themselves or prevent the abuse. They may suffer abuse such as:

  • Molestation
  • Sexual assault/rape
  • Indecent exposure
  • Sexual exploitation
  • Statutory rape

You may have experienced other types of sexual abuse; please contact me to see how I may be able to help you.

What To Know About Signs Of Sexual Abuse

Because group home residents may not be able to communicate what has happened, it’s important to know the signs of sexual abuse, which may include:

  • Fearful behavior
  • Withdrawing from friends and family
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Anger
  • Nightmares
  • Loss of appetite
  • Bedwetting (in children)
  • Self-harm or suicidal thoughts
  • Poor self-care

Every case is different, and you may notice other changes in a loved one’s behavior as well. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you suspect sexual abuse is happening to a loved one.

Who Is Liable For Sexual Abuse And Neglect?

The group home will typically be liable for letting the abuse happen, whether through poor screening of staff, failure to adhere to Ohio mandated reporting laws or lack of supervision of residents. The perpetrator will also be liable for their actions. I will seek compensation from every responsible party involved.
