Resources For Ohio Sexual Assault Survivors

After being sexually assaulted, you might feel all alone, with nobody to turn to for help. Fortunately, you are not alone. My name is Konrad Kircher, and I have represented survivors of rape, sexual assault and child sexual abuse in Ohio for over 30 years. Besides my services, there are many crucial resources available to people in Ohio who need to heal from sexual abuse. These include:

  • Rape crisis centersEvery county in Ohio has at least one crisis center that provides counseling, advocacy and other support at no charge. Many offer Spanish-language services. You can find the center closest to you on their website. You can find the center closest to you on their website.
  • SAFE ProgramThe Sexual Assault Forensic Examination (SAFE) Program makes forensic exams available to all sexual assault victims regardless of ability to pay, as well as medication to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.   • Ohio Sexual Violence HelplineA confidential phone line available 24 hours day offering emotional support, help with crisis response and connections to other resources. Call 844-OHIO-HELP (844-644-6435) or visit their website for more information.
  • YWCA of Northeast Ohio: The YWCA of Northeast Ohio runs a rape crisis center that helps victims of all forms of sexual assault in the Toledo area. Their hotline (419-241-7273 or toll-free 866-557-7273) is staffed 24 hours a day. The center advocates and supports abuse survivors and their families, including in the emergency room.   • The Ohio State UniversityThe university offers its students resources for reporting sexual assaults, a confidential hotline, counseling and medical examinations. You can visit the website for more information.
  • Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Prevention ProgramThrough its SADVPP program, the state Department of Health teams up with other state agencies and nonprofits to confront sexual abuse of women. The SADVPP goes into detail about its work here.
  • Ohio Sexual Assault Kit Tracking SystemThis online system allows survivors to keep track of their sexual assault evidence kit results.
  • Crime Victims CompensationA state program called the Ohio Crime Victims Compensation Program provides up to $50,000 to victims of violent crimes, including sexual assault, to help with expenses. Learn more about filing a claim on the program’s website.
